Apple TV+ still isn’t quite on the same level as its big competitors like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+, but it does feature a few exclusive series that have quickly garnered tons of praise and critical acclaim. If you’ve got a subscription, here are four shows that are definitely worth watching on Apple TV+.
Mythic Quest
First on our list is Mythic Quest, which was officially announced during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference a few years back. We like this show a lot and we’ve already gone through a few reasons as to why you should definitely watch Mythic Quest, but here’s a quick rundown.
Created and written by the Always Sunny team, Mythic Quest is a game dev comedy that’s very tapped into the trends and debates within the video game community. Wrapped around all of that is a compelling comedic story about colleagues trying to get along with each other without ripping each other’s hair out, all while trying to make the world’s most popular MMORPG the best it can possibly be.
Mythic Quest has a lot of heart and is genuinely funny, making it one of the best exclusive shows you can watch on Apple TV+ right now.
Ted Lasso
Even if you’re not a football fan, Ted Lasso is definitely amongst the quintessential Apple TV+ shows you have to watch.
The titular Ted Lasso is a coach for a mid-tier American football team, who quickly gets signed on to become coach for a Premier League football (soccer for you yankee-doodles) team despite having little to no knowledge of how the sport is actually played. After flying halfway around the world to England, Ted is forced to deal with various obstacles and struggles that come with managing a team that has basically no respect for him.
Despite all of that sounding rather grim, though, Ted Lasso instantly feels like such a beloved character because of how positive and wholesome he is. He’s a patient father and leader figure who manages his team with grace and respect, while landing himself in all sorts of comedic situations along the way.
For All Mankind
The premise of For All Mankind is an intriguing one: what if the Soviets were the ones who won the space race and landed the first man on the moon?
Taking place in this alternate version of history, For All Mankind is one of the rare sci-fi shows that actually deals with hard science grounded in reality. It follows a group of NASA researchers, engineers, and astronauts as they cope with recovering from the blow that comes with losing the space race, and picking themselves back up to put one of their own on the moon.
It does take a little while for this show to get going, but its main cast of characters is so compelling that it’s hard to stop watching once you’ve gotten two or three episodes in.
The Morning Show
Starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell, The Morning Show is a brilliant and thought-provoking look at the emergence of the #MeToo movement within a broadcast network that’s been plagued with years of silence and complicity.
After the anchor of the Morning Show, Mitch (played by Steve Carell), is accused of multiple cases of sexual harrassment, he’s promptly removed from the company, but the trouble doesn’t stop there. This 10-episode series follows the replacement of Mitch on the Morning Show, a spunky reporter played by Reese Witherspoon, as she begins her own investigations into the culture of the show, as well as the drama and politics that surround big corporations and higher-ups trying to navigate rough waters.
This isn’t an easy show to watch by any stretch of the imagination, but it certainly is a compelling one that will likely stick with you for a while.
