How to Build a Dock in Valheim

The first thing you’ll need to do is pick out the spot where you want your dock to go. It’ll obviously need to be near water, and should preferably be near your house.

The reason it needs to be near the water is that docks require you to carefully build out from the shore before you actually start building over the water. In starting the dock from land, you’ll be able to build and expand upon the foundation much easier than you would if you started in the water or too close it.

When it comes to constructing the actual dock, you’ll need to get regular Wood and Core Wood. When you have your hands on both, use the Core Wood to construct and install support beams along the shore.

The next step is going to be to lay down Wood Floor panels on the ground until they reach over the top of the support beams. Repeat this process, and you’ll be able to extend and customize your dock as you please.

If you want to go the extra mile, you can also build a boathouse, but just make sure you have plenty of space between it and the water so that you can fit the dock and the boat.

It is also important to note that you’ll want to avoid building where the water is too deep. If you do, you’ll run into the issue of not getting your beams to properly attach to your dock.
