Since launching into early access a couple of weeks ago, Valheim has become hugely popular. While you’re able to explore the open world on your own, it’s even better with friends. However, due to the procedurally generated nature of the world, the process of playing with friends isn’t that simple. If you’re wanting to squad up for a bit, here’s everything you need to know about how to join friends in Valheim.
While you’re able to create your own server and bring friends into it, sometimes you’ll want to join a friend’s world to see something a little different.
How to Join Friends in Valheim
Once your friend is playing and you want to jump into their world, you’ll be able to select Join Game and then select Friends. That will bring up all of your friends who are online and the servers they have active.
Select the one you want to join and then choose Connect. This is where you might encounter a stumbling block.
Depending on the settings your friend chose, you might have to enter a password to get into the server. If they have set one up, just message them asking for it so that you can type it into the box that appears when you select Connect.
If they didn’t set up a password, you and anyone else on your friend’s friend list will be able to jump into their server at any time. If you’re the one setting the server up, it’s probably best to make it require a password so that you’re not constantly being joined by players you don’t necessarily want to play with.
