Valheim: How to Increase Carry Weight

Valheim, How to Increase Carry Weight

Gathering resources is an integral part of Valheim‘s gameplay loop. Finding everything and anything you can use, and then building new items and gear with it, is the only way to progress further into the world safely, meaning you’ll want to collect everything you come across. This can be a pain to do, however, due to there being a limit to your character’s carry weight. As such, you wouldn’t be blamed for wondering how to increase your carry weight in Valheim.

How to Increase Your Carry Weight in Valheim

Increasing your carry weight in Valheim requires a specific item called the Megingjord sold by the game’s merchant Haldor.

He can be found in the Black Forest biome, but his exact location varies based on the seed tied to your current character. If you haven’t found him already and aren’t in the mood to face the Black Forest’s enemies, you can make your way around the perimeter of the Black Forest until a Bag icon appears on your map. This will indicate Haldor’s exact location, which you can then make a bee-line toward.

Once you reach him, view his wares and look for the Megingjord. It’ll be a belt that, when equipped, allows you to carry 150 more units of weight than normal. The only catch is, it costs 950 coins to purchase, which is no small amount of money to come up with.

From there, all you’ll need to do is open your inventory with the Tab button, select the Megingjord and then drag it into one of your Accessory slots. After that, you’ll be able to carry 150 weight units more for as long as it’s equipped.

How to Get Money Fast

You might find yourself needing to get some money fast in Valheim to afford this vital piece of equipment.

Fortunately, it isn’t too hard to gather funds if you know where to look. In this case, you’ll want to look out for items such as Amber, Pearls or Rubies. All of these are items that are meant to be sold, and can help you accrue funds quickly as a result.

Amber, for example, can be sold to Haldor for 5 coins each. There are a ton of ways to get it, from searching chests in the ruins of settlements to defeating enemies you come across in the wilds.
