In Valheim, you’ll want to find as many items and materials as possible so that you can survive for as long as possible in the dangerous world. While you’ll find stuff lying around camps and when killing enemies, you can find extra supplies by looting the ground in certain places. If you’re feeling like a pirate today, here’s everything you need to know about how to find buried treasure in Valheim.
While the buried treasure isn’t necessarily better than the stuff you’ll find by looting chests above the ground, amber and gold will often pop out if that’s what you’re after.
How to Find Buried Treasure in Valheim
The first part of looking for buried treasure is looking for the rocks that stand up vertically out the ground. They resemble slate, or old gravestones and will often be in large groups together in open areas.
It’s around these rocks that you’ll have to start digging into the ground. To do so, you’ll need a pickaxe, and we’ve got a guide here on how to get one if you don’t already know. Then, just start digging around and keep your fingers crossed that you stumble upon some buried treasure.
However, if you’ve got to the latter stages of Valheim, there’s a nice and easy way to reliably find buried treasure. If you’ve beaten the third boss in the game, you’ll be awarded a Wishbone, which is used to find things like silver and secrets throughout Valheim’s map.
What it does is tell you when you’re nearby buried treasure. Equip it and walk around in the areas where the rocks we mentioned before are. As you get closer to somewhere you’ll find treasure, the wishbone will start to beep louder and louder.
Once it’s as loud as it’ll go, dig where you stand and you should find something nice. It certainly saves a lot of time over simply looking around and digging.
