While you’ll have to reach up to the final boss battle in Super Mario 3D World with just four characters — Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad — it is possible to unlock another. That unlockable character is Rosalina, the adopted mother of the Lumas from Super Mario Galaxy. In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to unlock Rosalina in Super Mario 3D World.

Unlocking Rosalina in Super Mario 3D World

To unlock Rosalina, you must first beat ‘The Great Tower of Bowser Land’ level in World Bowser. This sees you facing off against the plumber’s arch-nemesis once again at his theme park.

Upon completing this level, you’ll then roll the credits. After these have finished, load up your save, and the Sprixies will have unlocked a rocket to transport you to the ‘Star’ world.

Here, you need to complete level Star-2 called ‘Super Galaxy.’ This itself is an homage to Rosalina, having debuted in Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii.

Upon completing this level, Rosalina will be unlocked and can be used for any level, just like any of the other four — Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad.

What Are Rosalina’s Special Abilities?

Rosalina can use a spin attack which allows her to attack without a power-up, perform a double jump, or jump higher. She also gets up to sprint speed the joint fastest out of all of the characters alongside Peach.

That being said, her sprint speed is also the joint slowest with Peach, so there is a trade-off you’ll need to make here.

That’s everything you need to know on how to unlock Rosalina in Super Mario 3D World as a playable character. For more tips and tricks on the game, head on over to our guide wiki, search for Twinfinite, or check out more of our coverage on the game below.
