The announcement was made today by DMM pictures with a trailer that you can see below.

The anime titled Blue Reflection RAY/Mio will air in Japan in April 2021, and interestingly, it won’t feature the same protagonists as the video game.

The protagonists are Hiori Hirahara and Ruka Hanari, who live in a world in which the feelings of girls can influence reality, reprising the game’s theme instead of simply following its story.

We also know that Japanese singer EXiNA will perform the theme song. Animation will be handled by well-known studio JCSTAFF.

If you’re not familiar with Blue Reflection, the original game was released by Koei Tecmo and Atelier developer Gust in 2017, featuring a story that mixed slice of life and magical girls themes and a lovely character design by Mel Kishida.

This is the first time the IP is brought back, and it’ll be interesting to see whether the anime will spark the creation of a new game as well.
