Fortnite: How to Defeat Predator

As the Fortnite servers come back online from their weekly maintenance, players will be able to take on the latest Jungle Hunter challenges. The fifth challenge in the quest tasks players to ‘Defeat Predator.’ As we saw with the Wolverine skin, this is easier said than done, so we’ll run you through what you need to know to defeat Predator in Fortnite.

Predator can be found in Stealthy Stronghold, the same place we found its Mysterious Pod for the first Jungle Hunter challenge.

The main problem you’re going to have with defeating Predator is finding this elusive hunter before other players do. You’ll want to listen out for its iconic roar/ growl/ screech, as this will indicate its nearby.

Predator does have a Mythic weapon it’ll use, called Predator’s Cloaking Device. This more or less renders the creature invisible for a short period of time, so you’ll need to look out for a distorted opaque outline of Predator itself.

Once you’ve tracked it down, you’ll want to keep your distance and land as many shots on it as you can. Predator’s only attack is a melee attack which deals 20 damage on the first and second hits, and 30 on the third. As such, we’d recommend using an Assault Rifle or even a Sniper if you’ve got the time (and you’re a good shot under pressure), to deal damage to Predator from a distance.

After enough time, Predator will be defeated. You’ll complete the Jungle Hunter challenge, and it’ll also drop the Predator’s Cloaking Device Mythic item. You can then pick this up and use it to turn invisible for 30 seconds, or until you change weapon. The invisibility effect will also be disabled if you start swimming.

After the effect has ended or you change weapon/ go swimming, the Cloaking Device has a 30-second cooldown before you can use it again.

That’s everything you need to know to beat Predator in Fortnite. Congrats, you’ve now unlocked the Predator skin for all your hard work, too. But there are more Jungle Hunter quests to complete in order to unlock the entire set of cosmetics to go with it.
