Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Responds to Epileptic Triggers Within Game

The announcement comes a day after Game Informer published a report noting that those prone to epileptic seizures should be aware of several moments in Cyberpunk 2077 that could potentially cause a seizure for those affected, after the writer of the piece suffered “one major seizure and felt several moments where [she] was close to another one” while helping review the game.

Some of the moments include “a lot of red glitching animations,” the clubs and bars that feature flashing and strobe lights, and “a flickering pale blue glitch effect” when interacting with Johnny Silverhand.

The writer does provide alternative methods such as reducing brightness or using colorblind modes to reduce the effects, but added a separate warning to the game’s mandatory “Braindance” sequences where the player’s character is subjected to a pattern of lights to interact with deceased persons’ memories.

The studio said it would be adding a separate warning to the game “aside from the one that exists in the EULA,” and would would be implementing a more permanent solution as soon as possible, though did not specifically detail what would be changed or added.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Dec. 10.
