Rued is one of the boss battles you’ll come up against about 20 hours into your playthrough of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While he and his wolf will ultimately be defeated by Eivor, you’ll then be left with the decision. Do you kill Rued or spare him? We’ll be running you through the consequences of each choice down below so you can make the right choice for you.

Should You Kill or Spare Rued?
Whether you choose to kill or spare Rued is, ultimately, down to you. By killing Rued, you’ll put an end to his shenanigans and he’ll be out of your way for good. From what we can gather, there aren’t any negatives from picking this option, other than having to live with the guilt of going against Oswald’s wishes.
If you choose to spare Rued, he won’t become an immediate problem, but he will pop-up later again in the story, and it’s at this point that sparing Rued could come back to bite you.
If you spare Rued, then later allow Oswald to fight him, Finnr will be so impressed that he won’t join your crew when you hit East Anglia. This means that you’ll be missing out on one of the better recruits you can bring into your raiding squad.
But if you don’t allow Oswald to fight Rued after sparing him, Finnr can still be recruited and will join your crew.
