How to Charge Attack in Pikmin 3

Using this charge attack is very simple to do in Pikmin 3. All you need to do is press the X button when you have Pikmin in your group. This will send the currently selected type of Pikmin charging forward. This can be used to damage enemies very quickly, or it can even be used to send Pikmin towards an item to pick it up or at a wall to have them knock it down.

It’s basically just a faster way to get a lot of Pikmin in one spot very fast instead of having to repeatedly press the A button to toss them one at a time.

If you have more than one type of Pikmin with you, just keep pressing X after the first time, and you’ll automatically send out the rest of your Pikmin. So, if you’re fighting a tough boss that’s open to attack, like in the image above, you can use the charge attack, and they’ll take lots of damage before you know it.

To make sure you’re sending your Pikmin in the correct direction, try locking on first with ZR and then using the charge attack. Locking on works for enemies and for items too.
