Sony Is Giving Away Free PlayStation Camera Adapters To Use PSVR on PS5

Sony’s upcoming next-gen console, the PS5, will not support the PS Camera from the PS4 era, you know, the one that all PSVR players have to use to play pretty much any VR game. But luckily, Sony is giving away free PlayStation Camera adaptors that anyone can request now, as long as they possess a serial number from the PSVR processor unit.

You can request the adaptor here. The form will ask for your serial number, and once that’s processed, it’ll ask for your info to know where to ship the adaptor to. Without this, you will not be able to play PSVR games on PS5, as the new HD camera is not compatible with PSVR for some odd reason.

There’s no price for shipping or anything like that, but you should know that the adaptors will not be sent out until the middle of November for the Americas, at least. Shipping will vary based on region, which you can see info for below:

  • Japan: End of October.
  • Americas: Mid-November.
  • Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand: Mid-November.
  • Asia: Early December.

Once the product has been shipped, those who have requested it will receive an email telling you how long the delivery will take. Sony says it can take up to two weeks, according to the support page for the adaptor itself.

The PS5 is set to launch on Nov. 12 for $499.99 in the US and select territories and Nov. 19 for the rest of the world. A digital edition of the PS5 will cost $399.99 and will not have a disc drive for physical games.
