How to Get the Rocket Nozzle in Super Mario Sunshine

Like with other upgrades in Super Mario Sunshine, the Rocket Nozzle is obtained by chasing down Shadow Mario after obtaining a requisite number of Shine Sprites.

In this case, you’ll need to amass 30 of the gleaming objects. Once you do, you’ll be notified that Shadow Mario is causing trouble on the rooftops near the Lighthouse, and will be tasked with stopping him by getting in close and blasting him with a FLUDD stream.

This functions exactly the same way as other Shadow Mario chase sequences, and isn’t too hard to complete once you start to memorize the loop he runs in. Keep at it, and eventually you’ll take him down and clear the task.

Once you do, he’ll drop the Rocket Nozzle, and it will be available for pick-up throughout the rest of the game via breakable boxes found throughout levels.

What the Rocket Nozzle Does

As for what the Rocket Nozzle does in Super Mario Sunshine, it’s a pretty straight-forward power-up.

While you have it in your inventory, you can perform a charged burst with the FLUDD that launches you high up into the air. This allows you to access portions of Delfina Plaza that were once inaccessible, and opens up new areas and levels to explore besides.

It’s also integral to dodging certain attacks by late-game bosses, so be sure to practice with it as you make your way through the rest of the game.

Hopefully this cleared up how to get the Rocket Nozzle in Super Mario Sunshine. For more on it and the other titles included in Super Mario 3D All Stars, check out our review of the collection to see whether it does right by the 3D Mario games.
