During its Tokyo Game Show 2020 Presentation, Bandai Namco revealed new gameplay and details about its upcoming action JRPG Scarlet Nexus.
First of all, we get to see two brief videos introducing the game’s world and the “Others” which are the enemies we’ll have to fight.
The developers then revealed a brand new trailer providing a look into the background of the hero and at the story. It also includes the introduction of a few new characters we’ll fight side-by-side with.
Then, we move on to the gameplay, with a video showcasing the game’s fast and dynamic combat against the others with the help of Yuito’s companions.
After that, the developer came up with a plot twist showing that what we previously thought was a cutscene is actually a character selection screen. We learn that Kasane Randall, the female heroine of the game, is actually playable and you can opt to play the story from her point of view.
Another video showcases her first meeting with Yuito and a cutscene of her introduction in the force that fights the Others. This cutscene is the alternate point of view to a similar scene we saw in previous trailers featuring Yuito.
The new key artwork was also revealed.

“In the far distant future, a psionic hormone has been discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it.
As humanity enters this new era, deranged mutants known as Others begin to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Impervious to conventional weapons, those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psychics, are our only chance to fight the onslaught from above and preserve humanity.
Since that fateful day psychics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force, humanity’s last line of defense.
Players will dive into a complex story of bonds, courage and heroism crafted by the minds behind the iconic TALES OF game, TALES OF VESPERIA. Using psycho-kinetic powers, the world becomes an important ally. Lift, break, and hurl pieces of the environment to build attack combos and lay waste to enemies.”
