How Long Does Super Mario Galaxy Take to Beat?

For a “normal” playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy, you’re looking at spending about 15 hours or so. You’ll unlock new areas to explore as you progress through the game, eventually reaching gated off sections that require a certain number of Stars to pass through.

As long as you collect the minimum number of Stars, you should be able to breeze through the game and then eventually reach the final boss fight with you know who.

There are a total of 120 unique stars that you can collect in Super Mario Galaxy, but once you get them all, you’ll be able to go through the entire story again but this time with Luigi as the playable character.

He’ll play differently from Mario, having a longer jump and slippery movement, making the game a bit more challenging.

Once you get all 120 stars again with Luigi, you’ll unlock the Grand Finale Galaxy, which will hold one final star for you to collect. You’ll also get a death count on your save file for reaching this milestone.

With that being said, you can expect to play Super Mario Galaxy for over 40 hours if you’re a die-hard Mario completionist.

And that’s all you need to know about how long Super Mario Galaxy takes to beat. For more tips and tricks like this one, be sure to search Twinfinite.
