September is finally upon us, which means that the fall season is here in Animal Crossing New Horizons. As the seasons change, players will also have a whole host of new fish and bugs to catch in the game. And with the introduction of diving, there are even more critters to add to your collection. Here’s how to catch the Oyster in Animal Crossing New Horizons, as well as its selling price.
Oyster Spawn Times and Location in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Not to be confused with the Pearl Oyster, the Oyster is a new deep sea creature that you can catch underwater with the diving function. Depending on which hemisphere your island’s in, it’ll spawn at different times of the year. We’ve listed its spawn times down below for both hemispheres:
- Northern hemisphere: September to February, all day
- Southern hemisphere: March to August, all day
Since the Oyster has a chance of spawning at any time of day, you don’t have to worry about needing to log in at a specific time to catch it.
How to Catch
Unlike regular fish, the Oyster is a deep sea creature, which means that you’ll need to dive into the ocean in order to catch it. To do this, you’ll first need a diving suit, then head into the water with the A button.
You’ll need to look out for dark shadows in the water; more specifically, you’ll want to go for the medium sized shadows as those have a chance of spawning an Oyster for you. Simply dive into the water when you’re right on top of the shadow and your character will automatically catch the creature.
Sell Price
The Oyster can be sold at Nook’s Cranny like all other creatures in the game, and this one will fetch you 1,100 Bells, which is a pretty good deal if you need to make some money quickly. You can also donate it to Blathers for your museum collection if you haven’t done so already.
