Spiritfarer’s co-op system isn’t explained at all within the game, and this can make playing multiplayer with friends a little more of a struggle than it really should be. Fear not, though, as we’ve spent the time figuring it all out so you don’t have to. Here’s everything you need to know on how to play co-op multiplayer in Spiritfarer.
Playing Co-Op Multiplayer
Whether you’re playing on PC, Xbox One, PS4 or Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve got two different controller inputs before going any further. This can be two Joy-Cons for the Switch, Keyboard and a Controller on PC, or two Xbox One or PS4 controllers for the respective consoles. If you don’t, you won’t be able to play Spiritfarer in co-op.
With your multiple controller inputs ready, simply sign in to your Xbox Live/ PSN profiles, or just connect the control pad to your PC while at the main menu screen.
As long as there are two control methods/ user profiles available, starting both a New Game or continuing with an existing save should automatically boot you into Spiritfarer’s co-op mode.
How Co-Op Works in Spiritfarer
Stella is joined on her journey by her cat Daffodil, so player one will control Stella, and player two will control Daffodil.
Stella will be able to do everything you can do when playing the game in single-player. Player two controlling Daffodil will also be able to do almost the exact same things as Stella, meaning you can dramatically increase your efficiency around the ship when playing the game in co-op multiplayer.
The only thing Daffodil cannot do is talk to other characters, and as such, it’ll be down to the player controlling Stella to check in with him, trigger quests and other narrative moments.
