Mediatonic and Devolver Digital have finally released their nonsensical Battle Royale party game, Fall Guys, on PS4 and PC and there are a lot of people playing at the moment –over 1.5 million to be exact.
Fall Guys is an absolute success so far, and now that it’s free to download for PS Plus subscribers, there’s no better time than now to jump into all of the multiplayer madness.
And if you’re still not convinced, here a couple of reasons you should be playing it right now.
It’s Mario Party Turned up to 11
The minigames in multiplayer titles such as Mario Party can be exciting and nerve-wracking (especially if the stakes are high) but in Fall Guys, the stress of being one of the last few players in a show is unlike anything else.
Since each game starts with 60 players, there are several rounds of minigames, and these can range from ridiculously difficult obstacle courses to team-based challenges that involve rolling a ball down a hill together.
Things get crazy. Fall Guys does an exceptional job of keeping things fresh too. There are lots of different games to play, and the levels are chosen randomly for each show, making each play session unique from the last.
There are Cool Costumes
Fall Guys isn’t only about surviving a gauntlet of Battle Royale minigame challenges –it’s also a fashion show of sorts.
You can unlock new items from the shop by paying with Crowns (which you can obtain by getting first place wins) or with Kudos, which is the currency you gain from the season one pass. You can also use real-world money to get Kudos too, but that’s if you’re desperate for the newest look.
It’s delightful to run around as a Hotdog Fall Guy or as a Dragon Fall Guy. You can be whatever kind of Fall Guy you want to be in this game, and that’s just wonderful.
You Can Play for Free on PS4 (For Now)
Fall Guys launched this week on PC via Steam and on PS4, and if you’re subscribed to PS Plus, then you can download the title for free right now, which is a no-brainer reason to try it out.
A majority of my time spent with the game so far has been solo without any friends online and it’s still a really fun time.
The multitude of challenges will keep you on your toes, the wacky physics engine will literally have you bursting with laughter, and the general Wipeout game show vibes are in full effect.
