The headline addition coming in Animal Crossing New Horizons’ Summer Wave 2 update is the fireworks festival. Every Sunday in August, Isabelle, your villagers, and even Redd will show up outside your Town Hall to take in the colorful explosions in the sky.

Players will be able to set off their own fireworks, use their designs as custom fireworks, and generally enjoy the festivities.

Redd isn’t just there to spectate, though. The shady fox is running Redd’s Raffle and will sell tickets in exchange for 500 Bells. While we’ve yet to get a complete list of all the items you can get from Redd’s Raffle, we’ve spotted the following in the Summer Update Wave 2 trailer:

  • Pinwheels
  • Bubble Blowers
  • Hand Fans
  • Party Horn
  • Roman Candles
  • Fireworks
  • Headband Boppers of Various Styles

Island Backup & Restoration

One of the most sought-after features for Animal Crossing: New Horizons ever since its March release was the ability to backup your island and restore it to another Nintendo Switch.

Thankfully, this update finally adds the feature in, though it’s worth pointing out you’ll need to have a Nintendo Online subscription if you’re wanting to make use of it.

The exact specifics on how this will work remain to be seen. Players may have to contact Nintendo Customer Support in order to restore their island to a new Nintendo Switch, and the wording suggests it may not always be possible to recover your island, but all will become clear when the update goes live tomorrow.

Luna & Dream Suite Islands

Last but certainly not least, the Summer Wave 2 update will also reintroduce Luna to Animal Crossing players. First appearing in New Leaf on the 3DS, Luna allowed players to travel to other players’ islands via the Dream Suite. In New Horizons, she’s here to do exactly that once again.

Players will simply need to go to sleep on their bed, and will then be able to visit other players’ islands as long as you have their Dream Address. You can also share your Dream Address with friends and other players so they can check out your island at their leisure, too.

But if you’ve still got to exchange a code, what’s so special about Luna and her Dream Suite as opposed to just visiting an island via Dodo Airlines and the game’s multiplayer?

Visiting other islands in a dream enables you to do whatever you want on their island without affecting that players’ real island. For example, you could cut every tree down on a dream island, but the real version would remain the same. Oh, and you can easily save other players’ custom designs via the Custom Designs Showcase found at the Plaza by the Town Hall.
