Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch has arrived and may just be the perfect swan song for the PlayStation 4. Players take control of Jin Sakai, one of the last samurais of the isle of Tsushima attempting to repel the Mongol invasion of his homeland. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering if you can melee in Ghost of Tsushima and fight with your hands.
Can You Melee in Ghost of Tsushima?
Well, the answer to that question above is yes and no. There’s no melee button in Ghost of Tsushima. This is obviously a game that revolves around sword to sword combat, which is sort of a melee in of itself in lots of other games.
That much is obvious, but no, you can’t shove or punch or otherwise grapple or strike your opponents with anything other than your weapons for most of the game in Ghost of Tsushima.
So don’t go searching for a button to press early on in the game. You will start and end this game with your Katana. If you tried to grapple with the Mongols, they would just cut your arms off.
Later in the game though, you will unlock some skills which do involve some more “intimiate” combat. The Wind Stance, for example, features an attack called the Typhoon Kick, which is initiated by pressing and holding triangle.
And that’s pretty much all you need to know! Hopefully, this guide cleared up whether you can melee in Ghost of Tsushima. If you want some more help with the other controls, you can check out our full controls guide here.
