All Arrow Types Ghost of Tsushima

There are two bows in Ghost of Tsushima. The Half Bow is is the “standard” bow and it’s acquired by completing the Way of the Bow tale with Sensei Ishikawa.

The Half Bow has two arrow types: standard, and flame arrows. The flame arrow is acquired by continuing Sensei Ishikawa’s tale.

To unlock the Longbow, you’ll need to complete the Mythic Tale The Curse of Uchitsune. Once you get the Longbow, then you’ll gain the ability to use two different types of arrows with it: heavy, and explosive arrows.

Heavy arrows are essentially just more powerful versions of the half Bow’s standard arrow. They are very good for more heavily armored enemies.

Notably, you can still use standard arrows effectively against armored enemies if you shoot them in the face. But the rest of their body (and usually their head too) will be covered with protective armor that will guard against standard arrows.

Explosive arrows, however, are an altogether different kettle of fish; the blast they cause is excellent for taking out groups of enemies. However, they’re not the most subtle method for approaching combat.

It’s also important to keep in mind that both bows in Ghost of Tsushima can be upgraded throughout the game. Just bring the proper materials to the nearest bowyer and they’ll be able to improve your weapon.

Also, if you’re especially keen on using a bow and arrow then be sure to complete the Mythic Tale The Legend of Tadayori, which will reward you with a special armor set that improves your bow and arrow abilities.
