PlayStation fans have been counting down to The Last of Us 2’s release date ever since the first game released on the PS3 back in June 2013. A whole seven years later, players will get to follow the next chapter in Ellie’s story as she embarks on a relentless pursuit of vengeance. If you’re as excited to play it as we are, you’re likely wondering what the The Last of Us 2 preload and unlock times are.

The Last of Us 2 Preload Time

Update 06/13/20: The Last of Us 2 is now available to preload on PS4. You’ll download version 1.02 which has an install size of 78.52 GB.

Original: Currently, The Last of Us Part 2 cannot be preloaded. That doesn’t mean it’s going to stay this way forever.

As long as you’ve pre-ordered The Last of Us 2 digitally from the PlayStation Store, you’ll have the option to begin preloading the game as of June 12.

This preload time comes via Reddit user Milkystainz who provided the below screenshot which clearly states the ‘Expected Auto-Download Date’ as June 12, 2020.

This means that you’ll have a whole seven days to preload The Last of Us 2 ahead of its official release date.

The Last of Us Part 2 Unlock Time

Once The Last of Us 2 has been preloaded onto your system, you won’t just be able to play it immediately. Instead, you’ll have to wait until the game unlocks.

Currently, The Last of Us 2’s unlock time is scheduled to be midnight in your respective time zone. In other words, you’ll need to wait until the clock strikes midnight on June 19 in your time zone before the game unlocks and you’re able to begin playing.
