Saddled Bichir Seasonality & Spawn Times

The Saddled Bichir can only be caught during the following months for each hemisphere.

  • Northern Hemisphere: June – September
  • Southern Hemisphere: December – March

During these months, the Saddled Bichir can only be caught between the hours of 9pm and 4am. In other words, you’ll need to be playing the game late at night in order to catch one.

To catch the Saddled Bichir, you’ll want to equip your fishing rod and then begin walking up and down the river on your island.

You’re looking out for any large fish shadow that you can see. Whenever you do, cast your fishing rod into the water by facing the shadow and pressing A.

When the fish bites and sinks your float, press A once quickly to reel it in. With a bit of luck, that large shadow will turn out to be a Saddled Bichir.

If you’re not finding many fish in your river (or not enough large shadows), remember that Fishing Bait, when used, will force a fish to spawn in that area.

It’s completely random what will appear, though, so you’ll have to cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Saddled Bichir Sell Price

The Saddled Bichir can be sold for 4,000 Bells at Nook’s Cranny. If CJ shows up on your island, you can also sell it to him for 6,000 Bells.
