Today Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new and extensive video of their massively-anticipated game The Last of Us Part II.
We get to hear from the developers of the game about its gameplay mechanics, including how the story and the nature of the characters inform the gameplay itself.
For instance, Ellie is smaller than Joel, so her movements (and the jump button) have been implemented to convey the idea that she’s not as physically strong as many of her enemies, but she is nimble and she can use that to her advantage.
We also hear about being prone, dodging, stealth, combat, and much more.
This is the second video of a series of four. You can watch the first featurette here.
Sony Interactive Entertainment recently reopened digital pre-orders for the game on the PlayStation Network. The game is ready and has “gone gold” ahead of its launch.
The Last of Us Part II will be released on June 19, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
If you want to see and learn more about The Last of Us Part II, you can also enjoy the latest trailer, the latest screenshots, a recent trailer, and read some more recent comments by director Neil Druckmann on gameplay, graphics, and story, on top of some on the work of animators and producers.
