Just like in the original Minecraft game, emeralds are an important currency in Minecraft Dungeons. In this guide, we’ll run you through how to get emeralds in Minecraft Dungeons, as well as what they’re used for so you can spend your hard-earned jewels.
Getting Emeralds in Minecraft Dungeons
There are a few different ways you can get emeralds in Minecraft Dungeons.
The easiest way is to simply look out for the large jars filled with green. Melee these when you see them and they’ll smash, releasing a bunch of emeralds.
Emeralds can also be obtained by simply defeating enemies. They won’t always drop from every enemy and are infrequent as a drop, but they add up all the same.
Furthermore, any chest that you see in any of Minecraft Dungeons’ nine levels has a good chance of containing a small fortune of emeralds alongside whatever other goodies you find inside.
Make sure to venture off the beaten path to find them.
Finally, when you’re free to explore your ‘Camp’ area between levels, have a proper look around the area. You’ll find a number of chests laying around here, each containing 50 of the shiny green gems.
What They’re Used For
Once you’ve racked up a good amount of emeralds, you’ll be able to spend them at the Blacksmith and Wandering Traveler in your Camp. Both of these will be unlocked automatically as you progress through the game, so don’t worry about missing them.
The Blacksmith will give you a random weapon or armor piece matching your current level, while the Wandering Traveler will do the same but for Artifacts.
When they show up in your Camp, walk over and interact with them. Press and hold A on Xbox One, B on Switch or X on PS4 and you’ll roll a random item.
