Expanded Children System

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Kicking off the list of the best Stardew Valley mods to release in April 2020, we have one that completely changes how you interact with your kids in the game.

Usually in Stardew Valley, your kids don’t end up being a big part of why you play. They mostly just sit in the house and act as another, slightly more lively, furniture item.

This mod changes that by fleshing out the kids systems, adding in new portraits, dialog, and activities for them.

You will be able to have conversations with your kids, they can have a set schedule for school with Jas and Vincent as well as other daily activities, they can give gifts, and you can even invite them to the movies.

It’s sure to make your children in the game feel more like NPCs and less like inhuman objects.

Lung Dragon Farm Animals

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Sure we all have pigs, cows, and chickens on our Stardew Valley farms, but this mod allows you to have the mythical Lung dragons as a optional farm animal.

Lung dragons are mythical beings with long serpent-like bodies, just like Haku in the film Spirited Away. They come in 13 different species for this mod and Haku’s design is also the inspiration for the ‘river spirit’ species specifically.

Each species has a distinct personality, for example some are attracted by storms, others like the dusty ground, and others like rain.

Their sprites are really well done, and will definitely make your run-of-the-mill farm feel a lot more magical.

Animations for ‘Gorgeous’ Weapons

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Adding animations to the base game seems to have been a popular mod idea for the month of April 2020, and this one kicks it off by adding animations to all of the ‘gorgeous’ weapons in Stardew Valley.

To access those original gorgeous weapons, you will also need to download this mod made by the same creator Kyuya.

These weapons look much better than the base game equivalents, and with the animations they are sure to brighten up your inventory with their sparkly blades and hilts.

Custom Furniture Pack

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

This mod offers a custom furniture pack, with a ton of the items having their own unique animations as well.

The items will immediately be added to your in-game catalogue, so there is no need to search around to try and add them one by one.

Some of the animated items include a snake terrarium, fish aquariums, a lava lamp, and a bird stand with a bird that actually flies around.

Show Time Before Harvest

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

While keeping tracks of crops is half the fun in Stardew Valley, sometimes it can be hard to remember the timing of every single thing you planted. Especially when your farm starts to get on the bigger side.

This mod offers a small but helpful tweak to the gameplay that allows you to see exactly how much longer each crop has before it’s time to harvest.

Hovering over the crop with the cursor will prompt an info box to appear in the bottom left corner that will give you the days remaining until you can harvest.

Custom NPC – Herbert

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Those in the Stardew Valley modding community often make totally unique and custom NPCs to add to the game, and last month the best of those was this mod offering Herbert P. Lovell, the grandson of Town-Mayor Lewis.

When Herbert was a child he used to spend his summers in Pelican Town to visit his grandfather. He is a polite, former private boarding school student who now lives in a summer house in town while he waits for his school to reopen.

Herbert comes with tons of original dialog, the ability to marry him, his own schedule and animations, a summer house, custom heart events, a custom spouse room, seasonal outfits, and more.

Animated Fish

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Here’s another mod focusing on adding animations to the base game, with this one adding a ton of new animations to all the fish in Stardew Valley.

Not only does it animate all 61 fish, it also adds movement to other fishing equipment and items as well. All of the animations are also configurable so you can choose which ones you want to use.

All the animations work on signs and prompt bubbles as well.

Fishing Assistant

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

Following the fishing trend, this mod dubbed the ‘fishing assistant’ makes it so you can fish accurately without even clicking.

It essentially makes fishing an automatic process in the game, so you don’t have to try and maintain the fish sprite within the meter bar in order to catch it.

If fishing if your least favorite part of Stardew Valley, you will want to download this mod.

Rustic Walls and Floors Pack

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

This mod offers some new custom walls and floors, all focused on the rustic aesthetic for your Stardew Valley houses.

It comes with 56 floors, as well as 117 walls. All of them totally unique.

All of the different designs are shown off on the mod’s Nexus Mods page, so you can check out if you like any before downloading the whole pack.

Hot Spring Farm Cave

New Stardew Valley Mods April 2020

The final of the top 10 best mods out this past month list is an adorable hot spring cave that’s hidden under the ground of your farm.

It has lush vegetation, some patches to plant a few crops, and even waterfall that has it’s own animations. There are also water and steam animations for the water in the cave as well.

It’s a very zen area, and your character can enter the hot springs and be rejuvenated just like at the spa in the base game without having to go all the way to the Railroad area.
