Red Dead Redemption 2 is Coming to Xbox Game Pass Next Month; Will Replace GTA V

best xbox one games of all time

Today Xbox revealed that the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass starting on May 7. Twinfinite’s choice for game of the year of 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows the story of Arthur Morgan and his time in the Dutch van der Linde gang of outlaws. It serves a prequel to the equally acclaimed Red Dead Redemption.

Included in the package at no additional cost is RDR2’s online component, Red Dead Online. Red Dead Online allows players to create their own character and follow a story within a shared multiplayer experience.

Red Dead Online continues to receive updates, and recently began adding to a feature known as Frontier Pursuits roles. These roles serve as classes or specializations of sorts, and they allow you to drive your character towards excelling in a specific set of skills useful in the wild west such as a Bounty Hunter or a Trader.

With the good, unfortunately comes a little of “bad” however. To make way for the entry of Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto V is stepping aside. On May 7, the day RDR2 arrives on Xbox Game Pass, Grand Theft Auto V will be removed. You can purchase GTA V at a 20% discount between now and May 7 through Xbox Game Pass if you want to keep playing.

We adored Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode back in 2018, and Red Dead Online has come a long way since its beta. If you have Xbox Game Pass (which you should at this point if you own an Xbox One unless you hate having access to lots of games), and you haven’t played Red Dead Redemption 2 yet, then this is about as clear a no brainer as no brainers get.
