While there are more than a few people who might enjoy how the Final Fantasy 7 Remake slants toward action, you might be wondering whether the game offers an option that’s more in line with a traditional JRPG experience. Fortunately, there is, and that’s why we’re here with a guide on how to enter Tactical Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Entering Tactical Mode in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Entering Tactical Mode in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is fairly simple.
At any point during a battle, you can hit the X, L2 or R2 buttons to slow down time and select your party members’ actions, applying a pseudo turn-based combat style to the game. While the mode is active, you can select each of your party members’ actions, and can continue to do so until you hit any of these buttons again.
This includes assigning them to attack a specific enemy, use an ability at a certain time or hold off on attacking and defend for a short time, and while enemies can still attack you during this time, time is slowed enough that it would be next to impossible for them to defeat you before you select your next move.
There’s no limit to this either, and if you so choose, you can enter Tactical Mode for all of the battles in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake to play through the game as you would one of the older Final Fantasy games.
And that’s all there is to it really. With this knowledge in mind, you’ll be able to enter Tactical Mode at will and switch between the game’s different combat modes as you see fit.
