TwitchCon Amsterdam Canceled Amid Coronavirus Concerns

TwitchCon Amsterdam Coronavirus

As many of you may know, there’s been a recent string of postponed and canceled events worldwide due to public health concerns. The latest convention to share that same fate is TwitchCon Amsterdam, because of the spreading of Coronavirus.

TwitchCon Amsterdam was originally supposed to run from May 2-3, but their website just provided this Coronavirus-related update for all potential convention-goers.

Anyone who purchased a ticket will receive a full refund. Instructions on how to claim said refund will be emailed to ticket holders as a “confirmation of ticket cancelation”.

No cancelations will be issued after Mar. 20, and it may take up to 20 days for the refund to be processed in full. Additionally, hotel bookings made through Twitch’s hotel block can be canceled free of charge.

However, for bookings done outside of Twitch’s hotel block, refunds cannot be guaranteed. Depending on booking details, you may need to contact RAI Hotel Services personally in order to cancel. To do so, an email can be sent to hotelservices@rai.nl.

You can’t exactly fault TwitchCon Amsterdam for putting peoples’ health first, so cancelations such as these caused by Coronavirus come as no surprise. This one wasn’t the first, and it may not be the last.

Recently, the virus has also affected the Pokemon Europe International Championships, the Game Developers Conference, and even the latest James Bond film.

For future updates or additional questions about TwitchCon Amsterdam’s addressing of the Coronavirus situation, you can follow TwitchCon on Twitter, or reach out to info@twitchcon.com.
