Team-Ninja’s ARPG series Nioh is designed around punishing gameplay first and foremost. Even its most basic enemy types can quickly get the better of you if you lose your concentration, and in combination with a lack of plentiful resources and a challenging gameplay environment, it makes for a gaming experience in which you never feel truly out of danger. Of course, there are ways to earn a quick reprieve, so here’s how to pause in Nioh 2 if you’re wondering.
How to Pause in Nioh 2
Fortunately, unlike FromSoftware’s iconic Dark Souls series from which Nioh takes inspiration, Nioh 2 does feature a pause option. That said, it’s particularly easy to locate.
Presumably, the developers don’t particularly want you to encourage players to take a moment to have a breather before withering down an enemy’s health. However, it is possible.
To do so, press the touchpad and then hit the options button. This actually causes the game to pause completely and you’ll earn yourself a reprieve that lasts however long you want. Once again in a step-by-step:
- Press the touchpad button on your PS4 controller.
- Press the options button.
Remember that when resting at shrines or nearby them, you can more or less be sure that enemies won’t attack, so don’t worry too much about engaging the pause if you need to put the controller down in this situation.
