With many events planning for the next few months getting canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the fighting game community has been waiting for a signal from the organizers of EVO. That signal came today.
The official Twitter account of the event shared that the organizers are moving forward with the plan of hosting the event between July 31 and August 2 as planned also retaining the location at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas (provided that it reopens in time).
That being said, they’re also actively monitoring news from the authorities about the COVID-19 Pandemic, and this could still cause a cancellation or postponement.
Should that happen, all tickets purchased will be refunded.
This year, the popular event will include new games and returning ones. Below you can read the full main event lineup, shared back in February.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch)
- Tekken 7 (PS4)
- Street Fighter V Champion Edition (PS4)
- Dragon Ball FighterZ (PS4)
- Samurai Showdown (PS4)
- Granblue Fantasy Versus (PS4)
- Soulcalibur VI (PS4)
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late [cl-r] (PS4)
Of course, due to the transient nature of the situation, we’ll keep you posted should any further news been released. For now we can only hope that come July the situation will be considerably improved.
