Today Bethesda Softworks reached out with a press release that Doom Eternal is breaking records in terms of sales.
According to the announcement, the game has broken the record for sales in the opening weekend and doubled the launch revenue of its predecessor from 2016.
It was also the best-selling game on Steam for the week, with over 100.000 concurrent users.
Bethesda Softworks senior vice-president of global sales Ron Seger accompanied the press release with a comment thanking the fans for their support:
“We want to thank our millions of fans for their enthusiastic support of this amazing title.
Despite thousands of retail stores closing, we are pleased so many fans have been able to enjoy DOOM Eternal.”
Doom Eternal released on March 20 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. A Nintendo Switch version is planned for later this year.
