Is Doom Eternal Cross-Platform? Answered

As it currently stands, no, Doom Eternal does not offer cross-platform play. You’ll only be able to play the game’s online modes with those who are playing on the same platform as you.

While it has been confirmed there are no technical limitations in place causing this, it also hasn’t been specified why the feature isn’t available in the game.

However, given the level of polish inherent to a AAA title like Doom Eternal and the fact that developer id Software also had to develop the single player campaign for the title, it wouldn’t be that surprising if its absence were due to limitations in what the team could implement given the development time they had.

Will the Game Ever Have Cross-Platform Play?

As for whether cross-platform play might come to Doom Eternal at a later time, the chances are decent.

With there being no technical limitations keeping id Software from adding the feature in – and the company mentioning this fact well before release – it’s clearly something the developer has considered. Likewise, if it’s requested enough by players, it could very well be added in as an update or patch somewhere down the road.
