The Bad Seed is the first official paid DLC for Dead Cells, and it comes packed with two brand new early game biomes and a new boss fight as well. While the new boss is meant to be on par with the Concierge in terms of difficulty, it can still be a tricky one to conquer. Here’s how to beat Mama Tick in Dead Cells Bad Seed.
How to Beat Mama Tick in Dead Cells Bad Seed
As you play through the two new biomes to get to Mama Tick, as always it’s advised that you invest in two out of three of the main stats. In our playthrough, we found that investing in Brutality and Tactics was still a pretty good way to go, as Tactics gives you access to a lot of good traps and turrets that help you deal consistent damage to the boss.
We made use of the Ice Bow to freeze Mama Tick whenever possible, and rerolled the rest of our loadout to make sure we had good weapon synergy. The turrets and crossbows were great options, and we managed to get rolls that allowed them to deal damage to frozen enemies. You don’t have to make use of ice damage; bleed and burning both work fine as well.
As soon as the fight starts, you’ll want to deal as much damage as possible to the little eyeball sticking out of the ground. During this phase, you really only have to watch out for the ground attacks, which are indicated and telegraphed by the yellow exclamation points that pop up on your screen. Once you see it pop up, immediately move out of the area to avoid damage.
When Mama Tick’s health gets low enough, she’ll reveal her true form: a large bug-like being that appears to the side of the screen. From here on out, she’ll start getting more aggressive with scythe attacks that hit anything directly in front of her. This is where your traps and grenades come in handy, as those allow you to attack from a distance while you wait out the scythe moves.
Occasionally she might wind up an attack to hit the entire bottom screen with her claws, so get ready to jump to avoid damage. Other than that, this is actually a pretty straightforward fight as long as you remain patient and wait out her long combo strings before going in for the kill.
Defeating Mama Tick will drop the Scythe blueprint, which is a two-handed weapon that takes up both weapon slots.
