Learn How to Use Session Attacks

Recommended Videos

Session Attacks are at the very heart of Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore, and it’s imperative that you learn exactly how they work. The game itself already does a fairly decent job of explaining them, but just in case you need a refresher, we’re here to help.

Essentially, as your characters level up, they can learn Session skills, which are automatically activated when you meet specific requirements. For instance, Kiria can learn Elec-Blizzard, which allows her to use an ice spell on an enemy when another party member hits an enemy’s weakness with an electric attack.

In addition to that, it’s also important to note that Session attacks can only be triggered with skills. Regular attacks will not activate Sessions, even if an enemy is weak to that specific type; you have to use skills that cost EP to start a Session.

As you progress through the game, you’ll gain more abilities that enhance Session effects, allowing you to get extra items and money through this process. Session attacks are a very efficient way of getting through regular battles quickly, so get used to them.

Do be warned, though, that enemies can also get Session attacks on you if they hit your weakness, so be wary of that.

Do All Side Stories

In between the main story chapters, you’ll occasionally receive text messages from your fellow party members requesting help for a personal problem or dilemma they may be facing. You’ll definitely want to get to these as soon as you can, especially if you want to get the game’s true ending.

Not only that, there are gameplay benefits to completing side stories in Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore as well. Completing a side story for a character often unlocks new Performa, allowing them to get access to more Radiant Unities at the Bloom Palace, which is always helpful.

They can also learn new Ad-Libs this way, which are skills that activate randomly when that party member uses a regular skill in battle. It’s basically a chance for free damage, and you want as many of these as possible.

Upgrade Your Unities Regularly

Speaking of Unities, make sure to check back with Tiki at the Bloom Palace regularly to see if you can craft any new Carnage or Radiant Unities.

Carnage Unities are basically new weapons you can equip on your characters in Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore, and there’s no reason not to upgrade to a new one whenever you’ve got the chance.

Each Carnage Unity comes with a set of skills you can learn as you level up. Once you’ve mastered that weapon and learned everything there is to learn, you should try to craft a new Carnage Unity as soon as possible to give your characters access to a new skill set.

On the other hand, Radiant Unities are permanent passive skills for your characters. The early ones are crucial, as they give you more max EP and HP, and Tsubasa also learns a particularly helpful one that lets you teleport out of a dungeon anytime you want, at the expense of a bit of EP.

You’ll usually need to get items and Performa from defeating enemies in dungeons to craft new Unities, so these should come to you pretty naturally over the course of a playthrough.

Check Out the Arena and Optional Dungeons

After completing the first two chapters in the main story of Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE Encore, you’ll unlock the optional dungeons in Bloom Palace, as well as the Urahara Arena in Harajuku. Both of these facilities can be very useful if you take the time to get familiar with them.

The optional dungeons in the Bloom Palace are great for level grinding, and you can even get valuable items there such as skill tomes, which let you level up quickly and attain weapon mastery at a faster pace. You can also pick up valuable treasures and sell them for more money.

The Arena is where your combat prowess will be tested, as you have to survive against waves of enemies with a fixed party. Winning battles here will reward you with Arena Coins, which can be exchanged for a variety of prizes, including Master Seals.

One very important thing to note here is that if your party happens to get wiped out in the Arena or the dungeons, you get an instant Game Over, and you’ll have to start from your last save. So make sure you save your game often.

Equip Accessories and Play the Lottery

Finally, the game never actually makes this explicit, but you can purchase accessories and equip them to your characters to boost their stats a little.

Head to the Carabia store in Shibuya, and you’ll find a variety of accessories available for purchasing. You can also buy consumable items from Hee Ho Mart to make your dungeon exploration go a little smoother.

Spending money at these stores will also reward you with Melmarks, which can be used for the in-game lottery. The lottery can be played at any store in the game, but we recommend spending them at the Black Frost counter in the Hee Ho Mart.

The Black Frost lottery gives you a chance of getting Incense items and skill tomes, which will help with leveling and strengthening your characters.
