Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne expansion finally arrived on Steam yesterday, but the update is causing some major performance issues. Players are complaining of 100% CPU usage, which, in turn, is reducing frame rates and stability. Understandably, they’re not happy.
Even worse, it’s affecting those that haven’t purchased the Iceborne expansion. Disgruntled players have made their thoughts known over on Reddit, and Iceborne’s Steam page is being bombed with negative reviews.
The outcry has been so loud that it’s prompted a response from Capcom:
[PC/Steam] We are aware of performance issues that have been reported, and are currently investigating them.
If you have been experiencing any issues with the PC version, please contact Capcom Support and be ready to share more info on your system: https://t.co/qf4EFm6HJK

One player has reported a potential fix over on the game’s Steam forums, which involves dropping settings to minimum, restarting, and then setting them back to normal. Others have confirmed the same action worked for them, too, though others have said it didn’t.
Regardless, it’s a dropping of the ball on the part of Capcom. Quite how this got past Q&A is unclear, especially when the game’s Steam release was delayed for so long.
If you’ve experienced issues then for now, as suggested in Capcom’s Tweet, your best bet is to keep an eye on the game’s support page.
