Following today’s announcement of Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, Bandai Namco released a video featuring the man who created the franchise.
The video stars mangaka Yoichi Takahashi, who created the story all the way back in 1981, as he comments about the announcement of the game.
Interestingly, he also mentions that it’ll be possble to play in multiplayer with up to four players.
You can check out the video below.
Some of you may not be familiar with the franchise, as its popularity varies a lot from region to region.
While in North America the original Captain Tsubasa anime never rose to prominence, I don’t think I’m exaggerating by arguing that in many European and Latin American countries (and of course, Japan) almost every kid grown up in the past forty years knows about it.
In the countries where it has been airing regularly on TV for decases, Captain Tsubasa is an absolute legend, and likely one of the most well-known and loved anime of all time.
If the good folks at Bandai Namco play their cards well, they have a true winner in their hand.
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is currently developed by Tamsoft, and it will release for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC worldwide in 2020.
