This time around is the launch trailer, which pretty much conveys the fact that this legendary franchise is coming back on just a few days.

If a few years ago you told me I’d be able to play a brand new entry in the MechWarrior mercenaries series, I’d have doubted your sanity. Yet, here we are.

You can watch the trailer below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Merchwarrior 5: Mercnearies, its namesake is a tabletop RPG, part of FASA’s BattleTech universe. This name might likely ring a bell since Harebrained Schemes recently released its Battletech turn-based strategy game.  MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is set in the same universe, but places you in direct command of a simulated mech.

Unfortunately, the franchise has been pretty much dormant in terms of videogames since 2002 after MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. That being said, the community has kept it alive until now.

Of course, we also had Piranha Games’ own MechWarrior Online, but its online nature means that it’s its own beast, very different from the traditional single-player story-driven franchise.

If you want to see more of MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, you can also check out the opening cutscenea recent gameplay trailer, one showcasing the scenario creator, another released a while before, one more trailer from December last year, alongside plenty more spectacular gameplay.

The game releases exclusively for PC on the Epic Games Store on December 10, 2020.
