With a whole new Pokedex and region to explore, there’s plenty of new secrets to be uncovered in Pokemon Sword and Shield. That doesn’t mean staple features have been removed, though, and the Razor Claw key item returns once again. Here’s how to get Razor Claw in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and what you’ll want to do with it once you have got your hands on it.
Getting Razor Claw in Pokemon Sword and Shield
There are actually two ways you can get Razor Claw in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The first, and best way to get Razor Claw is to head to the Wild Area. Specifically, in Dusty Bowl, you’ll want to look for the small island with a single tree in the corner. You’ll need to use the Rotom Water Bike to get to it, but this will enable you to get a Razor Claw for free, and far sooner than the only other option we’ve found in the game.
Alternatively, you can wait until you’ve more or less finished Pokemon Sword (or Shield), and have gained access to the Battle Tower. Once you do, you’ll be able to earn Battle Points, which you can then spend on a Razor Claw. To buy the Razor Claw, you’ll need 10 Battle Points. Then, head to Hammerlocke Pokemon Center and speak with the NPC just to the right of the Poke Mart in here.
We also found that the NPCs you can speak to at the market in Stow-on-Side can sometimes offer a Razor Claw for sale. For example, we spoke to this guy shown in the screenshot below, and he offered us a Razor Claw for $3000. This does appear to change every day, though, so be sure to check in with him.
What Is Razor Claw Used For?
The Razor Claw is used to evolve Sneasel into Weavile in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Once you’ve got the Claw, give it to your Sneasel to hold and then make it level up at night. After the battle, you’ll then watch your Sneasel evolve into a Weavile.
