How to Get Galarian Ponyta in Pokemon Sword & Shield

First off, Galarian Ponyta is a version-exclusive Pokemon for Pokemon Shield. This means that if you’re playing Sword, your only way of getting it is through trading with other players that are on Shield.

If you’re on Shield, however, you’re in luck. All you need to do is progress through the game until you get to Route 6, which is between Stow-a-Side and Ballonlea. In the Glimwood Tangle area, just wander around the tall grass until you encounter a Galarian Ponyta. The spawn rate for it seems to be a little lower, but you’ll get it eventually.

After that, it’s just a matter of weakening it enough to capture it in a Poke Ball.

Evolving into Galarian Rapidash

Once you have your Galarian Ponyta, just level it up to level 38, and it’ll automatically evolve into a Galarian Rapidash.

Unlike in previous entries where Ponyta and Rapidash were Fire types, in these new entries, they have a brand new look and are now Psychic type.

To recap, here’s how to get Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash in Pokemon Sword & Shield:

  1. Progress through the game until you reach Route 6.

  2. Explore Glimwood Tangle and check the tall grass for a Galarian Ponyta.

  3. Once it reaches level 38, it’ll evolve into Rapidash.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash in Pokemon Sword & Shield. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
