How to Get W and What It’s Used for in Pokemon Sword & Shield

If you’ve already started out on your Pokemon adventure through the Galar region, you might have noticed some wild Pokemon out in the field that emit a yellow-ish sparkle. By interacting with these Pokemon and defeating them in battle, you will be rewarded with a certain number of W.

These Watts allow you to purchase TM’s and other special items that cannot be bought with regular Pokemon money.

Also, you won’t be able to use Watts until you arrive at Motostoke. At the bottom of the stairs at the entrance of Motostoke, there’s an NPC who’ll trade you items for Watts but there will be other opportunities to use them later on in the story.

Other Ways to Get W (Watts)

Defeating Pokemon with that yellow aura around them isn’t the only way to get Watts. You can also get them by interacting with the glowing red dens in the Wild Area, going fishing at glowing yellow spots in the water, and participating in the Roto Ralley course.

And that’s pretty much all you need to know about how to get W (Watts) and what it’s used for in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
