Modern Warfare: How to Save Your Game

modern warfare, save

Call of Duty Modern Warfare brings back the single-player campaign that many fans have loved over the years. Unlike the online modes, the campaign involves your progress and your progress alone. So that you don’t have to replay sections of the game, here’s everything you need to know about how to save your game in Modern Warfare.

The first thing to note is that this all applies to the offline modes only. In multiplayer, it works as it always does, with completed matches and challenges counting towards a level, so there’s nothing to save per se.

How to Save Your Game in Modern Warfare

If you’re playing Modern Warfare’s campaign though, you’ll be happy to hear that the game saves automatically pretty regularly.

When reaching each of the game’s checkpoints or beating full missions, you’ll be able to see when you’re saving by looking at top left of the screen, where it’ll say ‘Checkpoint’ briefly, next to the Modern Warfare logo.

In our time with the campaign, the checkpoint indicator was appearing a lot, almost every 30 seconds or so in action packed sections of a mission.

However, there is no manual save option in the game. It’s not a big deal though, since the game saves so often and it’s split into short missions that can be replayed from the main Campaign screen.

Time needed: 1 minute

In short, here’s how to save your game in Modern Warfare:

  1. Your progress will save when you reach checkpoints or beat missions.

A little Checkpoint icon and the Modern Warfare symbol will appear in the top left.

  2. There’s also no manual save option.
