Today Kadokawa Games hosted an event dedicated to the Metal Max series in Shibuya, Tokyo, and they had three games to announce, starting with Metal Max Xeno Reborn.
Metal Max Xeno Reborn is a remake of Metal Max Xeno, which was released in Japan in April 2018 and in the west in September.
The game was originally released cross-platform between PS4 and PS Vita, which held the graphics back considerably, and this relaunch hopes to address that with a completely new engine and renewed gameplay systems.
The game will also include the return of the battle dog from past games of the franchise, named Pochi and able to carry weapons.
Metal Max Xeno Reborn will release this winter for PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Incidentally, this will be the reboot of the series on Nintendo’s new console.
To see what it looks like, you can catch a few screenshots below, and artwork featuring Pochi himself.
The second game is Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2, which is a sequel set in the western part of Japan based on the themes “hard” and “survival.”
It’s scheduled to release in 2020 also for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
The third project is simply code-named Code Zero, and it’s currently in the planning stage with no release window.
It’s a brand new reboot of the series which aims to rebuild it its origins “by going all the way back to the first Metal Max.”
At the moment absolutely nothing else is known about it, including the platforms.
This slew of announcements creates a strong lineup ramping up toward the 30th anniversary of the series, which will be in 2021.
Stay tuned on Twinfinite over the next few days, because we’ll have more to share on this topic.
