How to Start Bounty Hunter Specialist Missions in Red Dead Online

First and Foremost, make sure you have the latest update installed. You’ll know it is when the game’s file is updated to version 1.11, which takes up about 11.8 Gigabytes of space in addition to the base game.

Once that’s done, log on to Red Dead Online and head to Rhodes. It’s here that you’ll find a Legendary Bounty Hunter, and after an introductory cutscene with her, you can purchase a Bounty Hunting License from the Sheriff’s bounty board, marked on your map with a yellow mission marker.

If you linked your Twitch Prime account with your Rockstar Social Club account before Sept. 8, you should receive the license free of charge; otherwise, you’ll have to drop 15 Gold Bars on the license.

You’ll need this license to participate in any of this Specialist Role’s missions, so if you can’t afford it, complete some free roam missions to earn the necessary funds.

So again, just to summarize:

  1. Download the latest update

It runs about 11.78 GB and is necessary to play the new Frontier Pursuits Specialist Roles missions.

  2. Go to Rhodes and find the Legendary Bounty Hunter

She’ll trigger the start of the Bounty Hunter Specialist Role mission line and offer to sell you a License.

  3. Purchase a Bounty Hunter License

This will be given to you free of charge if you linked your Twitch Prime and Rockstar Social Club accounts. Otherwise, it will cost you 15 Gold Bars.

What You Get From Bounty Hunter Specialist Role Missions

From there, you’ll be able to accept bounties to hunt in exchange for role experience. Live bounties will fetch a bigger reward and more experience, but are harder to bring in; dead bounties, meanwhile, are easier to handle, but grant you a smaller reward.

Accruing more experience grants you new levels and bonuses from the Bounty Hunter role, including new weapons and items like the Bolas; new skills like the ability to use Eagle Eye while sprinting; and much more.

There are an ever-growing lists of new targets to chase after too, so keep at it and do your best to become the best Bounty Hunter as soon as possible.

That’s all there is to know about how to start Bounty Hunter Specialist Role Missions in Red Dead Online. For more on the game, check out the recent trailer showcasing some of the characters tied to the new Specialist Roles missions.
