Beotodus is one of the first new monsters that are part of the Iceborne expansion that you will have to slay. If you’ve been having trouble taking care of this monster, here’s how to beat Beotodus if you need some help.
How to Beat Beotodus in Monster Hunter World Iceborne
Beotodus is a tricky little fish-like monster that you will come across during your first few hours in MHW Iceborne. Luckily, it’s not too tough to take down, especially if you use some of these pointers.
Beotodus will spend the majority of its time swimming through the deep tundra snow, making it difficult to hit since it moves quickly when it’s not above ground.
Stripping the snow that is packed on its body will help force the monster out of the snow and onto the solid ground, allowing you to get some good hits in before he goes back under.
You’re going to want to focus your attacks on its leg fins, using your clutch claw to soften the area so that your attacks do more damage.
If you can break its fins and smack the snow off of it, Beotodus will eventually pop out of the ground and stay on the surface, which makes it easier to deal damage.
Using screamer pods also works very well, as they can make Beotodus fly out of the snow, in turn, making it vulnerable.
Weaknesses
Beotodus is exceptionally weak to weapons with a fire and thunder element, so be sure to go into the battle with the proper equipment. It’s also good to know that Beotodos is resistant to ice and dragon elements, so leave those at home.
As far as ailments go, Beotodus is susceptible to pretty much everything you can think of. You can poison him, put him to sleep, paralyze him, stun him, and blow him up with barrels and explosives.
One of the annoying things about this fight and most fights in the Hoarfrost Reach is that you will be inflicted with iceblight a lot if you get hit by its ice moves, which causes your stamina to drop rapidly.
This can be cured by using a Nulberry, but if you don’t have any, just make sure to have some cooked meat or ration on you to prevent your stamina from dropping too low.
So, to sum things up
- Use the clutch claw on its back fins to soften the area, making it vulnerable to attacks.
- Use screamer pods to knock him out of the snow.
- Use weapons with fire and thunder attributes.
- Carry some nulberry’s and stamina items to deal with iceblight.
