As expected, the Lancer weapon returns, allowing you to rip enemies to shreds in a couple of different ways. Anyone who’s played a Gears of War game before will likely be familiar with the series’ most famous weapon, but for anyone who isn’t, the Lancer is an assault rifle that has a chainsaw attached to the front, where a bayonet might be on an old school rifle.

How to Use Lancer’s Chainsaw Bayonet in Gears 5

To actually use the chainsaw bayonet part of a Lancer when you’re up close and personal with an enemy, you need to press and hold the RB button and walk into whatever you want to slice up.

Of course, you’ll need to have the Lancer equipped when you go to do it, with you character not just pulling it out when the time’s right, but the animation is automatic if you’re holding the right button and are near enough to an enemy.

If you do it successfully, the animation will end and you’ll be back to fighting as normal, being able to run around the Gears 5 map, blasting enemies away with the assault rifle part of the Lancer. You know, the main but least cool part of the weapon.
