Understanding what your abilities are and how to implement them is integral to surviving in Code Vein. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to get and use Gifts.
Where to Get & How to Use Gifts in Code Vein
As you level up and grow stronger in Code Vein, you’ll gain the option to unlock Gifts. They are special active and passive abilities you can use which allow you to attack your foes with a sudden burst of force or quickly maneuver around the battlefield.
Gifts are tied to each of the Blood Codes you can choose to follow, and each Blood Code has a different array of Gifts you can unlock and learn as you progress through the game.
As for how you unlock them, it’s a fairly easy process. All you have to do is go to a Mistle and select the Rest option. Then, select the Blood Code you wish to view. This will bring up that Blood Code’s list of Gifts.
From there, move your cursor over the Gift you wish to unlock. You’ll need Haze – the material you get from defeating enemies, selling weapons and using items – to unlock it, and the amount you need will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Once you have enough, press the X button to unlock it.
So, to recap:
- Go to a Mistle and select the Rest option
This will bring up the option to view and unlock abilities from each of your Blood Codes.
- Select a Blood Code
Once you do, you’ll see the different Gifts tied to that Blood Code that you can unlock.
- Move Your Cursor to the Gift you wish to unlock
This is done by pressing the X button, though you will need the appropriate amount of Haze to unlock it.
How to Use Unlocked Gifts
From there, you’ll be able to use your new Gifts by equipping them to your character.
This is done by going to the main menu and selecting the Gift you wish to equip at any given time. Passive abilities can be found on the left side of the screen, while active abilities can be found on the right.
Once they’re equipped, you can use active abilities by pressing the R2 button. Passive abilities, meanwhile, will activate on their own.
This remains true even if you have a different Blood Code than the one you got the Gift from assigned to your character, so long as you’ve mastered the ability. As such, feel free to experiment with each Gift and find out what Blood Code it pairs with best based on your play style.
