How to Equip Weapon Skins in Borderlands 3

While there don’t seem to be that many weapon skins available in the game at the start, you can get a few if you purchased or pre-ordered the Deluxe or Super Deluxe editions of the game.

These will give you the following weapon skins: Butt Dazzle, Gearbox, Golden, and Retro. They’re not mind-blowing or anything, but will certainly give your guns a bit of flair if you’re not a fan of their default look.

To equip weapon skins, bring up your ECHO menu and go to the Inventory tab. Then, hover over one of your equipped weapons and enter the Inspect menu by pressing R3 or clicking in the right stick.

This will allow you to view your weapon in more detail. Next, press the square button (or X button if you’re on Xbox One) to change the skin. You’ll then be able to select from a list of skins that you’ve already unlocked. Choose the one you want, then back out, and your skin will be equipped.

To recap,

  1. Bring up your ECHO menu.

  2. Head to the Inventory tab.

  3. Select your weapon and press the R3 button.

  4. Press square/X to change weapon skin.

  5. Select the skin you want to equip.

Just like the weapon trinkets, skins don’t have any bearing on gameplay in Borderlands 3 whatsoever. These are purely cosmetic and are just there to look nice and fancy for the most part.

That’s all you need to know about how to equip and use weapon skins in Borderlands 3. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our Borderlands 3 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
