Borderlands 3 is now out in the wild, and players are busy lootin’ and shootin’ their way across Pandora and beyond. To start your journey, though, you’ll have to choose from one of four new Vault Hunters: Fl4K, Amara, Zane and Moze. Once you’ve chosen, some players may be wondering if you can change character in Borderlands 3 mid-way through your adventure.
Can You Change Vault Hunter in Borderlands 3? Answered
Unfortunately, once you’ve started your new game and made the choice of what Vault Hunter you want to be, you’re locked into them for the entirety of that save file in Borderlands 3.
There’s no option to change Vault Hunter at any point as you travel across the various worlds you’ll explore, nor is it an unlockable option once you reach the end game. You’ll be stuck with whichever Vault Hunter you choose.
If you do want to change character, because you’re not a fan of your original Vault Hunter’s skill trees, or they’re just not a good match for your playstyle, you’ll have to start a new game entirely.
As such, we advise that you take your time looking at the characters’ various skill trees online, giving your preferred character a good run-out in the first opening missions and then deciding for good whether you want to stick with them, or start over with a new Vault Hunter.
We’ve even got a guide running you through each of the Vault Hunters to help you decide which you should choose, in case that will help you out. That way, you’re not going to have to do a ton of the main story quest all over again.
