BioWare Provides a Vague Anthem Future Content Roadmap

BioWare isn’t giving up on Anthem just yet, but it sounds as though development is only limping forward. A blog post today explained the future plan for the game moving forward, while also acknowledging some of the concerns about Anthem’s current state and how they plan to deal with them.

Although it’s rather vague; no specific event names or expansions are named. What we do learn is that the Act structure is being replaced by something less rigid. There’s no reason given for that, but if we had to guess it’s because not as much content is set to be delivered as was originally planned.

Head of live service Chad Roberston says:

“Instead, we have additional seasonal updates planned for this year that we think players will enjoy. These events will deliver challenges and chases similar to what you’ve seen, and are built around some fun themes we’re bringing to the game.”

And that’s about all there is in terms of new information about future Anthem content. Certainly, a far cry from the lofty ambitions of its original roadmap, though that hardly comes as any surprise given how poorly the game’s live service has gone.

Anthem’s season-long Cataclysm event ends soon, a timed end-game activity with exclusive loot and cosmetics. Only last week it was announced the game would be coming to EA Access, the publisher’s subscription service.
